From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Yeasts are eukaryotic micro-organisms classified in the kingdom Fungi, with the 1,500 species currently described estimated to be only 1% of all yeast species. Most reproduce asexually by budding, although a few do so by binary fission. Yeasts are unicellular, although some species with yeast forms may become multicellular through the formation of a string of connected budding cells known as pseudohyphae, or false hyphae, as seen in most molds. Yeast size can vary greatly depending on the species, typically measuring 3–4 µm in diameter, although some yeasts can reach over 40 µm. The yeast species Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been used in baking and fermenting alcoholic beverages for thousands of years. It is also extremely important as a model organism in modern cell biology research, and is one of the most thoroughly researched eukaryotic microorganisms. Researchers have used it to gather information about the biology of the eukaryotic cell and ultimately human biology. Other species of yeast, such as Candida albicans, are opportunistic pathogens and can cause infections in humans. Yeasts have recently been used to generate electricity in microbial fuel cells, and produce ethanol for the biofuel industry. Yeasts do not form a single taxonomic or phylogenetic grouping. The term "yeast" is often taken as a synonym for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, but the phylogenetic diversity of yeasts is shown by their placement in two separate phyla, the Ascomycota and the Basidiomycota. The budding yeasts ("true yeasts") are classified in the order Saccharomycetales. From Wikipedia under the

What is the recipe for just one yeast biscuit? If one is not possible, what is the recipe for the lowest amount of yeast biscuits? Asked by Christine J - Fri Jan 9 20:23:29 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. I agree - biscuits are make with baking powder. Dinner rolls use yeast and have to rise like bread dough. The simplest would be to get a box of Bisquick and divide a recipe by how many biscuits it makes. For yeast rolls, it will probably be impossible because you need to use a whole packet of yeast and dividing that up to make just one and have it rise properly would probably be impossible. Answered by carolathome2099 - Fri Jan 9 20:29:13 2009 How long does yeast infection medication take to fully work? Q. I was prescribed pms-Fluconazole for a yeast infection (a pill you take once) and I took it on Tuesday. The package says that the symptoms should be gone within a couple days, and they are, but it does not say how long it takes to completely get rid of the infection. I know you shouldn't have sex while you have a yeast infection so you don't pass it back and forth and am wondering if I am clear for intercourse again or how long I should wait. Any advice would be great. Asked by Ash - Mon Dec 22 12:50:07 2008 - - 5 Answers - 2 Comments A. The information should come on the packaging or the instruction sheets for your prescription. You could always call the pharmacy- you don't have to give your name, and they would be the best ones to answer that question. Or call your doctor. If it was me, I would definitly wait a week from the time I started the medicine. But I am not a doctor, I can't give you the appropriate advice.
