Why do Democrats demonize Gen. Petraeus when they UNANIMOUSLY approved of him for his current job?
Q. If you Dems think that all soldiers are 'yes men' to the president, will you still be in these forums after 08' demonizing military leaders if a Democrat president wins next year? Think about your logic before you answer... Anyone notice that not one single Democrat has answered my second question?

A. There have been no personal, demonizing, attacks on Patraeus. What was being questioned was his cherry picking, obviously at the White House request, of the information he presented to Congress. His own commanding officer, the Admiral, also questioned the validity of the information he presented. After the firing of several other generals by Bush that would obviously not play the game that Bush wanted, is Patraeus just a lap dog of the White House? It seem so. Would I want a Democratic president to be surrounding themselves with nothing but spineless 'yes men'? No. Constructive dialogue and differences of opinion are vital to good management and leadership.

Is there anyone who is off limits for the Liberals to DEMONIZE?
Q. This is amazing. We have a hard working American who wants to pursue the American Dream, by owning his own business. He asked a Presidential candidate a simple question about his tax plan. The question challenges the candidates tax plan - and now the Left is attacking like Rabid dogs. Searching his background and dismissing his concerns. I thought the entrepreneurial drive of Americans was to be celebrated for its innovation and job creation. Do you guys realize that your attacking the everyday American?

Why is it that, every election, people feel inclined to demonize the candidates?
Q. While we may feel strongly that some candidates are more capable than others of leading this country, does it mean we have to attack them on a personal level? I could name several close friends who have completely different values and opinions than I do. I suspect that most (perhaps not all) of the current candidates, in both parties, would be decent people if we could somehow know them on a non-political level... but what do you think?

A. For the same reason that people demonize celebs + other public figures. They feel they can, because the target has put his/her life "on display" + that this makes his/her actions fair game to attack. Personally, I think a lot of the ugliness being thrown around is exaggerated + that those who are using recent revelations against a particular candidate didn't support him in the first place. It's very convenient to throw mud, as opposed to sticking to which candidate is going to do the most good for our country (ALL things considered). Focusing on the negative + jumping on bandwagons is the easy way out, unfortunately. And too many of us take the easy way out.
