They were really soft and fluffy and lightly sweet, but not like a dessert sweet. I clearly remember her using yeast in them, but she does not remember the recipe, nor does she have it written down. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal, with some small pea-size pieces of fat.
