A. youre thinking of medieval time, from about 900 ad to 1450 ad, in which people were fearful of magic and the devil because they believed the apocalypse was near.the reniassance was an enlightening revival of ancient ideas from the greeks and romans. however, fear of magic experienced a brief boost in the 1600s because of cases like the salem witch trials. however, fear of magic in medieval times was carried to extreme limits. for example, if a fly buzzed by a window during a witch trial, it was often thought to be the familiar of the witch and the person was condemned. for similiar fear of familiars, cats (especially black ones) were massacred across europe and especially in england. most of these incidents were disputes over land or… [cont.]

I'm looking for a game about the renaissance, or a game about pure magic characters, gameplay etc?
Q. I was just wondering if there was a good renaissance mmorpg out there, like has anybody seen the anime show called Familiar of Zero? If you have I want something like that. A good game that has good game play and everything. Has magic involved too, or a game that is completely about magic, like you live in a magic academy and learn new spells are you level up (not harry potter I hate him). Like a game about wizards and stuff you know, I wonder if there's even such thing. Anyway do you know any good games like the ones I want out there? Doesn't matter if they are f2p or p2p doesn't really matter. As long as it has good renaissance-ish game play, or good magic content you know. A game like where you have to fight demons, do quests, save… [cont.]

A. Supernatural in Shakespeare's Plays In the time of William Shakespeare there was a strong belief in the existence of the supernatural. Thus, the supernatural is a recurring aspect in many of Mr. Shakespeare s plays. In two such plays, Hamlet and Macbeth, the supernatural is an integral part of the structure of the plot. It provides a catalyst for action, an insight into character, and augments the impact of many key scenes. The supernatural appears to the audience in many varied forms. In Hamlet there appears perhaps the most notable of the supernatural forms, the ghost. However, in Macbeth, not only does a ghost appear but a floating dagger, witches, and prophetic apparitions make appearances. The role of the supernatural… [cont.]

This is why Lucifer is my personal saviour...?
Q. The secrets off the occult (the true religion) has been passed down for a very long time. The myth of the dying god who comes back to life is much older than the story of Jesus or the Jewish messiah. The dying god who came back to life and has liberated the world was Mithras (and this was converted to Luciferianism). Lucifer has saved the world by giving it astrology, alchemy, magic, the renaissance, the enlightenment, the modern age, and "knowledge" deemed as "gnosis". Lucifer/Mithras or "The Logos" has gave us these things through various incarnations as Adam/Amilius, Moses, Hermes, Melchizedeck, Enoch, Jacob, Zoroaster, Jesus etc. He incarnated into those forms to give us the knowledge to achieve "gnosis" and divination over time. … [cont.]

A. By far, my most favorite sci-fi genre book is Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game." It's about a boy who is extremely intelligent, and is brought into space in order to train with other children to fight a war against aliens. You are already reading one of my most favorite fantasy-genre books, Zimmer Bradley's "Mists of Avalon." How are you liking? My fave characters are Arthur and Morgaine. Gosh, I love that book. Other fantasy-genre books I recommend (I'm a huge fantasy-genre reader): * "Dark Heart" by Betsy James * "The Forest House" by Marion Zimmer Bradley * "The Summer King" by O.R. Melling * "The Dark Elf Trilogy" by R.A. Salvatore - I really, REALLY recommend this one! It's so good. Salvatore is amazing. Also, this can be read… [cont.]

A. I can't imagine too many kids being all that interested in it, but you do need to remember that some people practice magic as part of their religious beliefs. Of course, their children would learn about palmistry and the Tarot, etc. I don't personally believe in any of it, but I don't see the harm it could do.

My Book Teaser--Interesting?
Q. This book takes place in a different world, but has the traits of medieval/renaissance times. When fourteen-year old Faldom and twelve-year old Gretki's father died, everything turned around. Two mysterious strangers kicked the brother and sister out of their house, saying that their father owed them something before he died. On top of that, Gretki has caught a deadly illness. Now, while working in the village to support the two, Faldom is kidnapped, along with some other boys, to be sold as slaves. Gretki, not wanting to lose her brother, follows them. But in the fierce, rainy winter winds, Gretki becomes sicker and more lost. She finally gives in to death. But instead of dying, she finds that she is being tended to by a creature she… [cont.]

A. yes, it's an interesting concept. I'd like to see it worked up into a story. Do the 'mysterious strangers' come into play later in the story? It would be good to have that issue resolved. And how does Demnar know about Gretki's powers? You need to tie up all the ends for a story to be really satisfying. Good luck with your writing!

I know this question has been asked several other times but the responses aren't geared toward my interests. I prefer magic based fantasy's that are in what I guess would be called the renaissance time. I like the idea of multiple races (high intelligence/brute strength), grammar and gesture based magic. I don't care much for His Dark Materials or LOTR. I did enjoy the Bartimaeus Trilogy and don't know how I feel yet about Sunrunner's Fire. I look forward to your suggestions. what movie could this be?
Q. I haven't seen this movie in probably around 10 years. I remember a short little leprechaun and a floating magic orb or bubble. I also remember there was a prince and I believe he was trying to save a princess. I think the movie was set back in renaissance times or somewhere around that time. I believe there was also a cave by a lake and I think the leprechaun was helping the prince to rescue the princess from there. That's all I can remember that I am able to put into words. It's not Princess Bride and the movie was probably made somewhere in between the 70s and early 90s. If you have any ideas of what this movie could be please tell me!

What is a good medieval fiction book with action, comedy, and perhaps a splash of romance.?
Q. I really want some good books to read. They don't have to be medieval, but related to medieval/Renaissance times. Witty and clever plots would be awesome. And comedy is always fun. I love good action, fighting parts and especially adore women warriors. And romance wouldn't hurt either. I HAVE read Tamora Pierce's Alanna the Lioness and Protector of the Small. Possible scientific explanations for floating land masses?
Q. I am currently writing a fantasy novel. In it there are several land masses that float in the sky. I really like the idea but I am finding it hard to explain how they float, without plagiarizing other authors. What I have so far is: - Some sort of magic is keeping them afloat - Some sort of lodestone or crystal like object is responsible - Some sort of technology i.e. propellers - All materials on these islands are buoyant. These are largely not suitable/plagiarized. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. However the soltion cannot be to hi tech as the story is set in a renaissance-like epoch. Furthermore the ideas don't need to be grounded in hard science. They just need to sound plausible. Thanks again.

A. Been done you know... in Avatar, with its floating islands. They explain it by some sort of force flux, which can only be one of four forces as that's all the forces there are in the universe: electro magnetic, gravity, and the strong and weak atomic forces. As the atomic forces span only the width of atomic nuclei to hold them together, they are not likely candidates. You are left with gravity or EM fluxes. Gravity doesn't work here because it only attracts. The Avatar islands were being repelled from the planet and held in place by vines... very strong vines I might add. You could "invent" anti gravity; this is fantasy after all. And, to a point, some legitimate physicists still think such a particle as the anti graviton, the anti… [cont.]
